Show & Tell | November 2025
Renee was our Member Spotlight presentation this month. She makes incredibly detailed quilts based on many different forms of inspiration and uses techniques such as EPP and applique.
Most of Renee’s quilts are handpieced. She usually drafts her own template pieces as well.
November Show & Tell
Community Quilt
An amazing orphan block quilt, with blocks provided by the members. Pieced by Eva and quilted by Theresa.
Laura
Laura’s quilted jacket was inspired by the metal work around the trees on 5th Avenue next to Central Park. Her rail fence pieces or made of 1.5” strips!
Nancy
Nancy made this lovely quilt based on a kit of Cherrywood fabrics and with color choices that made her happy.

Claire
Our resident Scrap Overlord made some doll quilts from… scraps! These will be featured in a fundraiser for a school.
Kara #1
Kara made a traditional quilt and didn’t like it, so she overdyed it, cut it up and added the red. All the fabric was hand dyed except for the red.
Kara #2
There is a small fabric shop in Astoria and Kara found this fat quarter bundle. Strips were slashed and sewn back together. It’s the brightest things she has ever made!

Sam #1

Sam #2
Sam purchased a kit years ago and put it together but have no idea how it was supposed to go together! The quilt was quilted by Quiltysaurus (Orlando).

Marilyn
Marilyn used to do work with a local Summerstock theater in Oklahoma. This quilt was made for one of the “kids” of the group who is now a father. Marilyn made it “colorful” and found 27 different colors of Moda Grunge… including a plaid!
Nanette
Nanette named this quilt “Out of this World” or “The Quilt from Hell".” The whole quilt was hand pieced and hand quilted. The intent was a colony from outer space. The sparkles come from a Halloween costume.
Laura
This is Laura’s great grandmother’s bicentennial quilt. She got it from her grandfather after her great grandmother passed away. The quilt is older than she is! It’s from Appalachia, TN.
Maria
Maria also joined the Tiny Quilt swap on Instagram. You get 8 weeks to make a mni. It’s fun because people vote and you can choose from over 200 quilts! Maria needed help deciding on what to use for the binding for her quilt.
Nellie
Nellie made quilted sneakers at a workshop offered by The Quilt Tree in Nyack, NY. The sneakers are mostly sewn by hand. The soles come in a kit.
Rossanna
Rossanna is part of a group in the Empire Quilt Guild and this project is made with blue jeans to recycle. This mini is whimsical and uses pieces from jeans and other special bits.
